What should I stock in my liquor cabinet?
What kinds of liquor and what brands should I have on hand for impromptu parties and casual get-togethers? Are there 3 or 4 bottles I should have at all times? Please suggest a few things that most twenty-something men and women will enjoy.

i have no idea
but did you know that captian and sunny D
tast like a creamsicle?
1) Whiskey/Bourbon (Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Makers Mark, etc)
2) Vodka (Absolut, Grey Goose, McCormick, etc)
3) Rum
4) Tequila
if money is not an option, then get one of each, gin, tequila, whisky, rum, vodka....at least a 750ml litter bottle of each, spending about 30-40 bucks on the mid-shelf stuff

or you could go with what is popular, Jack Daniel's Whiskey, Jose Chevero Tequila, Absolute Vodka, Bacardi Rum I have no idea about Gin maybe Seagram's. Plus some Jagermeister for shots, maybe a couple of "flavored liqours" such as Coconut Rum ect ect

good luck on your new liqour collection, i'll take a whisky and coke ;)
If you are going to mix simple drinks and not martini's or tropical concoctions, then you should definitely follow the advice that everyone so far has posted.

You should have the most common liquors:

Vodka - Absolut or Sobieski
Light Rum - Bacardi
Whiskey - Jack Daniels or Weller's
Tequila - Jose Cuervo or 1800 (if making margaritas then buy 'triple sec' also)

and if your budget permits, you should add:
Spiced Rum - Captain Morgan or Sailor Jerry's
Gin - Tanqueray or Bombay

You will need something to mix with all of these things:

Coke/Pepsi
Sprite/7up
Soda
Tonic
Sweet&Sour
Orange Juice
fresh fruit - limes lemons
